Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
SecondTrack has no accounts, comments, or sign-up forms, so it does not ask for your name or email address. This policy explains the limited information collected when you read the site and how it is used.
What we collect
- Analytics. SecondTrack uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-52HJ09KY8Y) to collect pseudonymous usage data: pages viewed, referring sites, general location, browser and device type, and a few interactions. Those interactions are site searches (the search text, trimmed to 80 characters), copying a citation or permalink, changing a commentary or person filter, expanding topic examples, opening a search result, and clicking a link to another site. The data shows which parts of the archive are read and helps improve search and navigation.
- Server logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses, browser type, requested URLs, and timestamps. This data is used for security, abuse prevention, and performance monitoring, and is retained according to Cloudflare's data policies.
Advertising
SecondTrack uses Google AdSense to show ads on essay and guide pages only. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to SecondTrack and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are asked for consent before advertising cookies are used.
Third-party services
- Google. Analytics, advertising, and the site's web fonts are provided by Google. Your browser requests fonts directly from Google Fonts, which receives standard request data such as your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
- TMDB. Film posters load directly from The Movie Database's image servers, which receive standard request data. SecondTrack sends TMDB no other information about you.
- Amazon. Links labeled "Find on Amazon" are affiliate links. If you follow one, Amazon may set cookies and collect information about your visit under Amazon's privacy notice.
